About The Lunatic Triathlon

Who are we? The long answer to that is… We are a group of amateur triathletes who started our own triathlon in 2010. We wanted a triathlon we could do in our own hometown, Price Utah, which we could not only share with our entire family, but be able to afford to participate in with our entire family. So we created a Non-Profit triathlon with a $35 Registration Fee so we could buy event shirts, finisher’s medals, and post-race refreshments. Since it is in town we don’t have to get a hotel room for the night, or wake up in the wee hours of the morning to drive to another city. In order to make our event truly unique we decided to hold our triathlon at night under the Full Moon, as a result our race date changes each year in order to match up with the best full moon.

In 2017 our Triathlon will be held on Friday June 9th at 10:00pm. We will begin with a 5K run, and then a 9 mile bike ride and finishing with a 300 yard swim in the Desert Wave Pool. As we have grown over the years, so have our ideas and this year we are adding a Kid’s Triathlon, which is being provided at NO COST thanks to the Southeastern Utah Health Department. In order to help our “Out of Town” friends that want to race with us this year we are even securing discounted hotel room rates for the night as well as discounted meals at local restaurants thanks to the Castle County Travel Bureau. We are also being Professionally “Chip” Timed this year, and are offering a FREE “Lunatic in Training” Tee-Shirt to all Lunatic Participants that register with us prior to April 1st, 2017.
